Description

Cheeseburger Pie is a hearty and delicious casserole-style dish combining ground beef, onions, cheddar cheese, and a Bisquick batter, baked to golden perfection. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for a comforting dinner that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup onion (diced)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)

Batter

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ cup Bisquick
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pie.
  2. Prepare Pan: Grease a 9 inch pie pan thoroughly and set it aside to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook Beef and Onions: In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and diced onions together until fully cooked. Drain off any excess grease to reduce fat content.
  4. Layer Meat and Cheese: Spread the cooked ground beef evenly in the bottom of the prepared pie pan. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the meat layer.
  5. Make Batter: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Bisquick, and eggs until just combined to form the batter.
  6. Pour Batter: Pour the batter mixture evenly over the layered ground beef and cheese in the pie pan.
  7. Bake: Place the pie pan into the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the batter is set.
  8. Serve: Remove the pie from the oven and serve immediately while hot and fresh.

Notes

  • Make sure the eggs are at room temperature for better batter consistency.
  • You can use a different type of cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for variation.
  • If desired, add some chopped bell peppers or mushrooms with the onions for extra flavor and veggies.
  • Let the pie rest for a few minutes after baking for easier slicing.
  • This recipe can be doubled to serve a larger crowd using a bigger baking dish.
