Scale
Main Ingredients
- 16 to 18 (4-inch) wooden skewers
- 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
- 1 (12-ounce) container miniature cherry-sized fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine)
- 1 bunch fresh basil leaves (about 36 leaves)
For Drizzling & Seasoning
- Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
- Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the skewers: Take each 4-inch wooden skewer and thread on 1 cherry tomato, followed by 1 fresh basil leaf folded in half if large, then 1 miniature fresh mozzarella ball, another basil leaf, and finally another cherry tomato to complete the skewer.
- Arrange on platter: Lay all the assembled skewers neatly on a serving platter, spacing them evenly.
- Season and drizzle: Lightly drizzle extra-virgin olive oil over the skewers, then add a drizzle of tangy balsamic glaze. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Notes
- Use in-season cherry tomatoes, fresh mini mozzarella balls, and sweet basil leaves for the best flavor.
- Folding the basil leaves makes them easier to fit on the skewer and adds to the presentation.
- If balsamic glaze is unavailable, reduce balsamic vinegar over low heat until thickened as a substitute.
- These skewers can be assembled a few hours in advance; keep refrigerated and add drizzles just before serving.
